Originally from the suburbs of Boston, my love of photography started early. My father gave me his camera to bring to summer camp, where I took my first photography course. The counselors were horrified by the thought of a child using a vintage 1964 Leicaflex, and I was delighted to take moody self-portraits and images of dead flowers.

From 2005 to 2010, I lived overseas in Auckland, New Zealand and then in Sydney, Australia, where my love of photography accelerated, using it as a tool for sharing my life in the Southern Hemisphere with loved homes back home. I worked in several photography studios, learning both the administrative side of the industry and being mentored as a photographer. Once I returned to Boston in 2010, I worked for four years in Boston College’s Office of University Photography while developing a small freelance business, and left BC in January 2015 to build my embrace freelance full-time. As of October 2021, I’ve returned to Boston College to work as Senior Photographer, and am maintaining my freelance work, since I love the diversity of assignments and clients.

I work primarily as an event photographer in the greater Boston area, and am available for travel. Whether photographing a corporate assignment or a wedding, I approach all events with the same dedication to capturing the elements of the day that make it memorable – portraits, details, big moments, broad landscapes, and small poignant gestures. I focus on candid interactions and fleeting details, waiting for natural moments to take place. Color-based composition and emotion are at the core of my personal approach to photography.

Since 2016, I’ve resided in West Medford, Massachusetts with my husband Tim, also a professional photographer, and Margot, my bonus daughter (we use this instead of “stepdaughter”), who just completed her third grade (in a whirlwind of a pandemic year) in remote school. I’m happiest in my garden or in my hammock.
